Students will delve deeply into the components of story writing as they transfer the written word into visual images. Plot line, characters, setting, dialogue, genre and format become showcased in this exciting unit. 8-10 week Project Based Unit.
Comics can make reading fun! Increasing the fun of learning, students will learn from community artists, authors, editors, and others in the publishing or writing field. Inquiry based learning leads the students upon a journey of discovery as they learn from community experts and each other. Students benefit from these encounters and begin enter into the understanding that learning is fun and it is something that they can continue to do their entire life.
Learning to work as a member or leader of a team project will also be a focus of this engaging unit. Students will learn about decision-making, problem solving, and compromise when it comes to creating a successful product. The experience of creating a team project can build confidence and establish some essential skills that are needed in the workforce of 21st century students. Pride of accomplishment will foster a love of learning. Final draft and exhibition will create a lasting impact of learning upon the students.
